Today we went to Wrest Park for the afternoon to their St. George's Day Festival. It was fab day and to be honest we didn't have enough time to do and see everything! They had a number of stages with a variety of re-enactment groups - we really enjoyed the fab fire breathing from 2 amazingly funny guys and of course the highlight of the day the battle between George and the Dragon!
Wrest park itself is a huge expansive of parkland and I am definitely looking forward to going back and exploring it! The only criticism of the day was the food queues which were huge!

Laming at Wimpole 2016
Today we went to see the new born lambs at Wimpole. This year the farm no longer charges extra for National Trust members to visit which is great. We didn't see any lambs being born (apparently most happen at night) but we did enjoy seeing some tiny ones. The lambing tent is is a new place this year - not sure why, but it does feel smaller. The girls also enjoyed seeing the piglets, Shetland ponies, the goats and some chicks. Lambing runs until the 24th of April. We then also went for walk around the estate in the April showers!

Cambridge Botanic Garden Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt
This morning, the girls and I headed over to the Botanical Gardens to enjoy their Easter Egg hunt whilst G was at a trampolining course. We enjoyed walking round the garden hunting for bunnies to provide answers to questions as well as enjoying the spring flowers and blossom! The girls won a small lindt bunny (which starved off the hunger pains till lunch!)
Then we went into Town to enjoy the Horrible Science talk at the Cambrige Literary Festival.

Pond Dipping at Wicken Fen
Today the girls and I went for walk around Wicken Fen where we saw deer and a kingfisher! And then the girls went pond dipping and bug hunting (pre-bookable) for an hour. It was fun - they caught all sorts of small pond life including a rare great-crested newt, a diving beetle, various larva and nymph.

Ickworth Easter Trail
Today we went to Ickworth (NT) to meet up a friend and carry out their Easter Egg Trail. There were 2 trails you could do - we opted for the longer (mile and half one) - it was muddy! The girls had to read information about the house and answer a question based on what they had read. We also enjoyed tree climbing, den building, the playground and Easter crafts! It was a fab day out!

White Scar Cave
On our way home we stopped off at White Scar Caves which are longest cave tour in Britain. The guided tour covers 1 mile and takes about 80 minutes. It was brilliant day out and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions as we went round! I loved the flowstones, stalagmites and stalactites. There is a lovely BBC video which I showed the girls to explain what we saw set at the caves!
Lake District 2016
This week we went on our annual pilgrimage to the Lake District staying near Little Town. The weather ranged from rainy, snowy, windy, hailey and sunny, however we were out walking every day. We walked between 8-10 miles each day and the girls climbed 21 Wainwrights.
