#30dayswild Day 28 - Owl Pellets

I ordered some owl pellets from The Barn Owl Trust (although as you get 2 pellets to a pack I didn't need 1 pack a child - I think 1 between 2 would have been fine!). Each pack of pellets also comes with tweezers, magnifier, wooden probe, gloves, safety sheet and analysis leaflet.

We enjoyed pulling apart the fur to find the bones (luckily the pellets I bought have been treated so no clothes moth lava to be found in them!).  Thanks to the guide it was easy to identify the different bones and we could separate the lower jaw bones into vole, mouse and shrew.. and we could even start to work out types (although I found the mouse ones hard!)

#30dayswild Day 27 - Walk round the Botanical Gardens

Today, after school, we went for a wonder round the Botanical Gardens (to be honest this is how I imagined my 30 days wild challenge to be; nipping out somewhere after work, wonder round, go home - but what with the weather and G's leg it was not to be!). Myself, I and P walked round, G sat on the grass whilst E was gym! I took lots of photos whilst P ran about (especially enjoying the stepping stones!)

#30dayswild Day 25 - a river and bird's eye view of our city

Today we decided to see what nature we could observe from river level. We enjoyed a guided punt tour.

Then we climbed Great St Mary's Tower for a bird's eye view over our city and to remind ourselves how lucky we are to have some many green spaces!
